Notice of Race

  1. Organizing Authority: Cypremort Yacht Club and the United States Sunfish Class Association (USSCA) are the organizing authorities for the 2008 Sunfish Gulf Coast Regional Championship Regatta.
  2. Rules: The regatta's races will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, the regulations of the International Sunfish Class Association (ISCA), and the regatta's Sailing Instructions.
  3. Eligibility:
    1. The regatta is open to all boats of the Sunfish class.
    2. Competitors must be members of USSCA or ISCA. Membership application will be allowed at registration.
    3. Eligible boats may enter the regatta by completing the registration form and submitting it with the required fee to CYC during the time scheduled for registration.
  4. Schedule:
    1. Saturday 7 June 2008

                                                               i.      Registration is scheduled from 0900 to 1030.

                                                             ii.      Competitors' meeting is scheduled for 1030.

                                                            iii.      Warning Signal for Saturday's first race is scheduled for 1130.

                                                           iv.      Other races are scheduled to follow.

                                                               i.      Warning Signal for Sunday's first race is scheduled for 1030

                                                             ii.      Other races are scheduled to follow.

                                                            iii.      No race will be started after 1430.

                                                           iv.      Trophies will be presented as soon as possible after the finish of the last race.

  1. Races and Courses: Seven (7) races are scheduled. Courses will be triangle or windward-leeward.          
  2. Fees:
    1. Registration will be $28.00 with a $3.00 discount for US Sailing Association members.
    2. The registration fee will include lunches for each competitor served on the water between races.
  3. Liability: Each competitor participates in the regatta entirely at her or his own risk. Signed parental consent is required for minors to register and compete. The organizing authorities will not accept any liability for any damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
  4. Sailing Instructions: The regatta's Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.
  5. Scoring:
    1. At least one (1) race is required to be sailed and scored to constitute the regatta.
    2. All races scored will be counted: no throw out. This changes Racing Rules of Sailing A2.

Lodging and Food Camping will be allowed on the CYC grounds for the Regatta. The closest motels are about 25 miles away and require about 40 minutes driving. Probably full Cypremort Point State Park might have overnight accommodations for that weekend http://www.stateparks.com/cypremort_point.html. The closest food store is in Lydia, La., about 10 miles away. For Saturday night and Sunday noon CYC will sell meals. CYC will offer complimentary coffee, milk, fruit juice, and pastries Saturday and Sunday mornings.
