Cypremort Yacht Club 2010 Spring Series and Fall Series of Races

1 RULES

The races and these series will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing,  the rules and regulations of the Gulf Yachting Association Performance Handicap Racing Fleet http://www.gya-phrf.com/, and the  CYC Sailing Instructions for the 2010 series.

2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1 The regatta is open to all CYC boats in the PHRF.

2.2. An entry failing to give the CYC Race Committee a valid PHRF certificate will have 6 second per nautical mile added to its rating.

2.2 An entry will register in either the A Fleet or the B Fleet for Spring Series and again for Fall Series.

3 SCHEDULE

3.1 One race is scheduled on each of the following Saturdays in 2010:

3.2 An entry will register its name, skipper's name, and sail number on that day's PHRF Score Sheet.

3.3 Skippers will meet in the clubhouse at 10:00 when the course for the race will be posted.

3.4 The start of the race will be at 11:00 local GPS time unless postponed. The race may be postponed by either the principal race officer on site that race day or the race committee.

3.5   Before 1800 on the day preceding the race, the CYC race committee may post a Notice of Postponement under "Latest News" at http://cypremort.com/main and consequently will attempt to notify all CYC members by email of the race postponement to a later time or date.

4 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The Sailing Instructions for the series will be available before the Skippers' Meeting.

5 SCORING

5.1 The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A will apply.

5.2 RRS A4.2 is changed so that the word "race" replaces the word "series" and RRS A9 will apply.

6 PRIZES

At CYC's 2010 Christmas Party trophies will be presented to each series' top three finishers.

7 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in races entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. Neither CYC nor its officers including the principal race officer and race committee chairman or members will accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the races.

9 FURTHER INFORMATION

Please Note the Following

In addition to  events noted in NOR 3 Schedule, the CYC, Race Committee will hold a Race Seminar at 10:00 on Saturday 13 March 2010 and also a Fall Regatta, date of which will be announced later.

The CYC Race Committee asks each CYC Skipper to serve as Principal Race Officer for one race noted in NOR 3 Schedule. The Race Committee will identify the race's PRO.

The Entertainment Committee will provide a meal on the 2^nd Saturday of each month listed in NOR 3 Schedule.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS for CYC 2010 Spring Series

1 RULES

The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 (RRS) published by US Sailing Association, the By-Laws of the Gulf Yachting Association's Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) at www.gya-phrf.com, and these Sailing Instructions (SI) for the Cypremort Yacht Club (CYC) will govern this Spring Series of races.

2 RACE MANAGEMENT

The CYC Race Committee Chairman will designate a Principal Race Officer (PRO) for each race.

3 NOTICES TO COMPETITORS INCLUDING CHANGES TO SI

3.1 Except for changes to SI 4 SCHEDULE FOR RACES, the Race Committee will post notices on the Official Notice Board (ONB) located in CYC's clubhouse no later than 1000 hours on the day notices take effect.

3.2 The Race Committee may put off until later a date or time scheduled in SI 4 and shall post change under "Latest News" at http://cypremort.com/main no later than 1600 hours on day preceding date scheduled in SI 4.

4 SCHEDULE FOR RACES

4.1 One race is planned each Saturday noted here:

4.2 At 1000 hours on race day in CYC clubhouse the PRO will conduct a Skippers' Meeting.

4.3 The start will be 1100 hours Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) time unless postponed as allowed by SI 5.1.

5 VISUAL SIGNALS

5.1 The PRO may opt to conduct the race per RRS 26, 27 and 29 and from a race committee boat.

5.2 Signals made ashore will be from the west side of the clubhouse's upper deck.

6 COURSE

At the Skippers' Meeting the PRO will designate the course and its mark(s) and post them on the ONB.

7 RACING AREA

CYC Race Map at http://www.cypremort.com/CYC%20Race%20Map.pdf shows the racing area in Vermilion Bay, the location of CYC on Cypremort Point, and also the location of objects to serve as marks of the course.

8 MARKS

8.1 The PRO will select 1 or 2 or 3 objects identified CYC Race Map to serve as marks for the course.

8.2 Those objects are in the following table from the CYC Race Map identified in SI 7.
